AVI’s Home Makeover Project Wins Second Prize
ATLANTA, GA – AVI, a Marvin Design Gallery announces it has won second prize in Atlanta Home Improvement Magazine’s 2011 Best Before and After home makeover contest. AVI’s winning project was in the contest’s Home Exterior category and involved transforming a 1980s contemporary home into an inviting Arts and Crafts style residence. The winners are listed in Atlanta Home Improvement’s June issue.

The makeover resulted in dramatic changes to this Cobb County home, accomplished with a new frontBefore Remodeling porch and siding, Integrity® from Marvin replacement windows by AVI, and a new front entry door system made by Therma-Tru, also supplied through AVI. A new porch was also added to the back of the house, accessed by an Integrity Sliding French Door. Window and Door Consultant Heather Elsberry worked closely with the architect and homeowner, and in less than two months the project was completed, including a brand new doghouse for the homeowner’s pet German Sheppard.

“Having the use of our 4,000 square foot Marvin Design Gallery showroom in Buckhead got the project off to a great start.” The architect and homeowner were able to see various Integrity windows up close and displayed just as they would look installed in a typical home, complete with siding and sheetrock walls,” said Heather. “In replacing the old aluminum windows, we were able to quickly choose every detail based on the homeowner’s needs. For the windows that face the golf course, we specified cottage style grills that leave a clear view for the bottom two thirds of the window.”After Remodeling

“We also collaborated with the architect and homeowner to choose the perfect front door, one that would require little maintenance while perfectly expressing the Arts and Crafts vision set down in the planning stage. The Therma-Tru fiberglass door was a great choice,” said Heather.

In total, the project used 5 different Integrity products: double hung, picture, awning, and glider windows, as well as the sliding French door, all with genuine wood interiors and low maintenance, high durability Ultrex® fiberglass exteriors. A window with a fiberglass interior was used in the shower area.

“This project was very detailed. A leftover Integrity window was even used in the matching doghouse created by the talented builders, so even their pet got ‘top dog’ treatment,” said AVI President, Peter Morrison. “Plus, the fiberglass windows and doors will give the home excellent energy efficiency and demand very little maintenance over the decades. And because they’re Integrity from Marvin, the homeowners will never have to worry about window leakage or replacement again.”

In addition to the distinction of being the AVI consultant who worked on this winning project, Heather also appears on the Atlanta Home Improved blog as June’s home improvement expert. Her blog can be read here.
